Cry Out to God! - Psalms 34:17

Psalms 34:17
"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles."

-------------------------------

Sometimes as Christians we think we need to be praising and thanking God continually.  And there are Scriptures that seem to imply this like "1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."  However there are also many instances where God's people cry out to Him in anguish for their circumstances.  This psalm of King David is one example where David says that we need to cry out to God in our afflictions and he will answers us.

God wants an authentic and complete relationship with us, not just a fake "everything is ok" one.  Just like we are real with our true friends, God wants us to be real with Him also.  Linked below is one of my favorite songs by Amy Grant called "Better Than a Hallelujah", and the chorus says "The honest cries of breaking hearts are better than a Hallelujah".

So when your heart is breaking, be real with God and give him an honest cry.  As He promises in today's verse, He will deliver you out of your troubles. And when He does and "at all times", give Him your praise also.

...and don't forget to love God with all your heart, love others as He does, and use every minute for His will and to His glory!
